Inspired by the story of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire, lightning, wind, and volcanoes.

Pele is believed to reside in the Halemaʻumaʻu crater at Kīlauea. According to legend, she journeyed from Tahiti to Hawaiʻi fleeing her sister, the sea goddess Nāmaka, who destroyed her physical body in battle, causing Pele's spirit to live on as fire and lava.

Volcanic Creation: Known as "She Who Shapes the Sacred Land," Pele is believed to create new land through volcanic eruptions.

The Journey & Battles: Fleeing her sister, Nāmaka, Pele traveled through the islands searching for a home where the sea could not reach her, creating volcanoes as she went.

Forms & Personality: She appears as a young, beautiful woman, an old woman, or a white dog. She is known for a passionate, volatile, and destructive personality, demanding respect for the land.

The Curse: A popular modern legend suggests that removing lava rocks or sand from Hawaii will incur the wrath of Pele, resulting in bad luck.

Lovers and Jealousy: The tale of Pele, her sister Hiiaka, and the chief Lohiau highlights her jealousy, where her rage destroyed forests and created the landscape.
