Our Story

Zanzi Sol is a one-woman small business, based in the beautiful Far South Coast of NSW, Australia.

Travelling and creating art has been a part of my story for as long as I can remember. Wherever I am in the world, I am always scouring the local markets, seeking out special and unique things to bring home and create some kind of art with.

This love has continued throughout my life, and now manifests itself in the form of seeking out beautiful gemstones and creating adornments. A degree in human centred design and engineering along the way made way for silversmithing and the fabrication process.

Growing up in Africa and traveling to places like the Mediterranean has inspired a deep love for learning about different cultures and the wonderful creations that accompany them, so I especially love creating pieces imbued with interesting stories and symbolism. For me, jewellery is much more than simply an accessory ~ it can carry so much meaning.

Sustainability

At Zanzi Sol, a sustainable, earth-friendly ethos is paramount and lies at the heart of everything we do.

All of our items are individually hand-made and materials are purchased within Australia from carefully sourced suppliers. Where possible, the silver is recycled in the fabrication process. In addition, sterling silver is a high quality material that can be worn again and again, and which if cared for correctly, will last you a lifetime. We really do believe it’s best to buy well and buy once!

All of our packaging is 100% plastic-free and is fully recyclable.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my ring size?

The most accurate method is stopping into a local jewellery store to get sized. If this is not an option, using a ring sizer works as well. If you would like one mailed to you (free of charge) reach out to me via email. I do not recommend measuring your finger with string, etc.

Your ring size may vary between your hands, and will fluctuate depending on the time of year and your body temperature. Measure when your hands are at room temperature. The band should feel comfortable, loose enough that it is able to go over your knuckles, but snug enough that it does not fall off.

What is the return policy?

In most circumstances no, but I do offer exchanges depending on the situation. Reach out to me via email.

How do I care for my jewellery?

My pieces are made with materials intended to last, but how you love and care for your jewellery will greatly extend the life of these pieces. If possible, jewellery should be taken off when coming into contact with chemicals, or lotions. Some stones, such as opals, are more delicate, and should be treated with an extra level of care. I recommend researching and getting to know the stones in your pieces. Wearing jewellery is a form of holding stones close to your body, after all! Form a relationship with them.

Oxidation and tarnishing will naturally occur when the silver is exposed to air, but if the piece is frequently worn the natural oils in your skin will help maintain the polish. Storing jewellery in an airtight container when not wearing will slow the tarnishing process. To clean and re-polish a piece scrub with a toothbrush and gentle soap, and then use a polishing cloth to regain the shine.

As much as I aim to make jewelry that lasts, things happen: stones may become loose or fall out, bands may get bent, silver will tarnish. Reach out to me via email if your piece requires a repair, a re-polish, or just a bit of TLC.  I do not offer repairs on jewellery not made by me.
